A Warm Welcome from
Claire Austin - Head Of School
Welcome to Wisewood Nursery & Primary School. It is a real pleasure to introduce you to our wonderful school — a caring, inclusive and welcoming community offering education for children aged 2 to 11.
As a small school at the heart of a close‑knit community, we take pride in knowing every child personally. Each pupil is recognised and celebrated for their unique qualities and achievements, and we work closely with parents and the wider community to build the positive relationships that help our children grow into happy, confident learners.
Families choose us because they want their child to feel known, valued, supported, and inspired every single day.
At Wisewood we have high aspirations for every pupil. Our children consistently achieve above the national average in reading, writing, and maths, and our performance exceeds that of many local schools.
Our Early Years outcomes are also above local and national figures, reflecting the strength of our provision from the very start of a child's learning journey.
We combine high-quality teaching, personalised support, and a strong curriculum to ensure that every child is encouraged, nurtured, and celebrated.
Outdoor learning is a big part of what makes Wisewood so special. We believe that children benefit enormously from learning in natural, stimulating environments where they can explore, investigate, and experience hands-on discovery.
Every year group has regular opportunities to learn outdoors, supported by a range of environments, including:
- Purpose-built play areas
- Climbing frames and physical development equipment
- Sensory gardens
- A fully equipped mud kitchen
- Adventure areas
- Residentials and visits linked to our Adventure Learning Framework.
These experiences help children develop independence, curiosity, teamwork and confidence — skills that support their learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Our approach is built around the thing's parents tell us matter most: strong values, a great education, and a community that cares. We want every child to feel safe, confident, and excited about learning - and everything we do is shaped by that commitment. These principles guide us every day and are brought to life through our school values.

What Makes Us Special
With just one class in each year group, our school offers small, close-knit classes where children benefit from personalised support and strong, trusting relationships with staff.
We pride ourselves on being a community-focused school, fostering close connections with parents and carers to support every child's journey.
We value each child as an individual and recognise their qualities, achievements, and the contributions they make to our school community.
We consistently achieve outstanding academic results, surpassing local averages and setting a high standard in statutory assessments.
We offer a breakfast club to support working families and ensure every child starts their day nourished and ready to learn. We also offer after school club provision that is facilitated by our own school staff.
A wide range of after-school clubs are available at no cost, giving children opportunities to explore interests, develop talents, and build friendships.
We can't wait to welcome you and your child to our school and begin an exciting learning journey together.
