Welcome to the Otter's Class

Your teachers is Ms Southern

Did you know?

Ms Southern absolutely loves gardening
When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll often find her outdoors tending to plants, digging, watering, and watching new shoots appear. Gardening helps her relax, be creative, and enjoy the excitement of seeing something grow — from tiny seedlings to beautiful blooms!

Foundation Stage 2 and Year One are such exciting places to be because every day is full of discovery, play and imagination. It’s a space where children learn through exploring, building, creating and working together with their friends.

From phonics (through Read Write Inc.) and storytelling to outdoor adventures and hands-on activities, there’s always something new to try.

Our classrooms are bright, happy and welcoming—everyone is encouraged to be curious, kind and confident.

Learning feels like an adventure, and every child is celebrated for the brilliant things they can do.

We look forward to a fantastic year of learning, teamwork, and achievement together.

Lots of exciting updates are coming — watch this space!

We are very committed to building strong home / school links. We know that education is the most effective when there is a positive partnership between home and school.

In Otters Class:

  • Children are encouraged to read at home every night with an adult. This will start with initial sound work, and progress to reading books that match the child’s phonic phase and stage of learning.
  • Spelling and maths activities are set to reflect the learning that happens in school.
  • The activities they take home will consolidate learnt skills so that they feel confident and proud of their achievements and progress.

Useful equipment to have at home:

  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Ruler
  • Colouring Pencils
  • Dictionary
  • Thesaurus
